Our Engineering Standard
At Kell Electricals, quality isn't only about whether an installation works when it's switched on.

We look at how the system was designed, installed, protected, tested, documented, and maintained.
This is our internal engineering standard, the approach we bring to every residential, commercial, and industrial project. It’s built around five principles: safety, accuracy, workmanship, maintainability, and accountability.
Safety First
Electrical systems must be designed and installed with safety at the centre. We consider the risks tied to loading, protection, fault conditions, equipment selection, earthing, cable installation, and the environment the system will operate in, working within relevant Nigerian requirements, manufacturer specifications, and recognized engineering practice.
Design Before Installation
Not every electrical problem should be solved by adding more equipment. A proper solution starts with understanding the load and the intended use, through load calculations, cable sizing, protection coordination, voltage-drop considerations, and, where relevant, solar and battery sizing or generator capacity assessment. The depth of assessment scales with the complexity of the project.
Proper Materials and Equipment
We weigh electrical rating, application, environmental conditions, manufacturer specification, and the availability of replacement parts before we specify anything. If a client has already chosen equipment, we can assess whether it fits the application before installation.
Workmanship Matters
A technically sound design can still fail if it’s poorly installed. Our approach emphasizes proper cable routing, correct terminations, neat and labelled distribution boards, secure mounting, and accessible, maintainable installations. The finished job should be safe, functional, and understandable to whoever has to maintain it later.
Test Before Handover
An installation shouldn't just be energized and assumed correct. We test the relevant parts of the system before handover, covering continuity, polarity, insulation, earthing, protection, functional operation, and backup or solar system performance where applicable.
Document What We Build
A well-built installation shouldn't depend entirely on the memory of the person who installed it. Where appropriate, we provide circuit schedules, equipment details, test records, photographs, and handover information, particularly important for commercial properties, estates, and managed facilities.
Maintainability
We think beyond installation day. A good electrical system should let another qualified person inspect, troubleshoot, and maintain it without having to guess how it was put together, so accessibility, labelling, and documentation are considered from the start.
Continuous Improvement
Every project is a chance to do the next one better. We review problems, site conditions, and outcomes so future installations are safer, cleaner, and more practical.
Our standard is simple: build electrical systems that are safe, properly considered, carefully installed, and practical to maintain.
