How to Prepare Your Property for an Electrical Installation
A little preparation before the team arrives saves time on site and avoids surprises in the quote. Here is a simple list.

Know what you want the system to do
Write down what must keep running during an outage, which rooms or areas are involved, and whether you plan changes soon, such as an extension or new equipment. This shapes the design more than any single product choice.
Gather what exists
Any drawings, previous electrical records, equipment lists and recent electricity bills help. If none exist, that is fine: a site assessment measures what is actually there.
Make the site ready
Make sure someone can give access to the distribution board, meters and any plant or roof areas on the day, and clear the working areas where you can. Tell us about anything that needs to stay powered while work is under way, so shutdowns can be planned around it.
Agree the records you will receive
Before work starts, ask which documents you will get at handover. Our guide on what you should receive at the end of an electrical project lists the usual ones.
Scope a job with our team
Tell us what you need built, fixed or installed. We’ll look at it properly and come back with a scoped assessment.
